France recalls unsafe chipolata sausages and warns against certain frozen kebab products

A nationwide food safety recall has been issued for chipolata sausages made from pork IGP du Sud‑Ouest and distributed by HIRUAK. The products, sold between 1 June and 4 June 2026 in major retailers such as E. Leclerc, Intermarché and Carrefour, were found to have a manufacturing defect in the dosing of spices and preservatives, raising the risk of bacterial contamination. Consumers are advised not to eat the sausages, to return any unopened packages for a refund, and to contact the helpline (05 59 63 93 47) before 16 June 2026.

Separately, the consumer organization 60 Millions de consommateurs has warned that frozen kebab slices from the brands Isla Mondial and France Kebab contain an excessive list of additives, including flavour enhancers, maltodextrin and other techno‑ingredients, and have a low meat content (as low as 69%). The products are classified as ultra‑processed foods, which are linked to health risks such as obesity, diabetes and hypertension. The association recommends limiting consumption of these items to occasional use only.
