France reports bus fire in Compiègne and car fire at Intermarché station

On the evening of 1 August, a bus belonging to the Compiègne agglomeration caught fire while empty near Venette. The driver stopped the vehicle and no passengers were on board. The fire originated in the engine compartment of the 2013‑model bus. Philippe Marini, president of the agglomeration, noted the bus had been inspected in March and demanded a fresh inspection of the entire Transdev fleet.

In a separate incident, a car ignited shortly after 02:00 on 2 August at an Intermarché service station in the Ambérieu‑en‑Bugey shopping centre. Firefighters from the Ain department extinguished the blaze, which caused significant damage to the station, rendering it out of service. No injuries were reported.
