France to launch joint flu and Covid-19 vaccination campaign on October 13
France will launch its joint vaccination campaign against influenza and Covid-19 on October 13, 2026. The initiative aims to protect vulnerable populations, including seniors over 65, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic illnesses or obesity. Health authorities are also encouraging healthcare professionals to get vaccinated.
Recent data from Santé publique France indicates a slight increase in Covid-19 cases, evidenced by rising concentrations in wastewater and a 76% increase in consultations for suspected cases via SOS Médecins. This follows a difficult flu season where approximately 12,700 deaths were recorded.
A significant regulatory change is in effect: as of July 10, 2026, influenza vaccines require a prescription, though pharmacists and nurses are authorized to prescribe and administer them. While the Haute Autorité de Santé has recommended mandatory vaccination for healthcare workers, this requirement will not be fully enforceable until the end of the first quarter of 2027.
