France says EU sanctions on Iran stay until nuclear programme halted

French foreign minister Jean‑Noël Barrot announced that the European Union will keep sanctions on Iran in place until Tehran abandons its nuclear programme, ceases regional destabilising actions and stops developing ballistic missiles. Barrot warned that the sanctions will remain while Iran continues its so‑called revolutionary project and missile work that could eventually reach Europe. He called for all parties to return to the negotiation process established by the existing agreement, noting that no one has an interest in further escalation.

The statement underscores the EU’s stance of maintaining pressure on Iran until it complies with nuclear‑non‑proliferation demands and limits its missile capabilities.
