France: Sébastien Lecornu unveils 2027 budget proposal
Sébastien Lecornu has unveiled the 2027 budget proposal for France, which includes a planned 54 billion euro reduction in spending. The proposal faces significant political opposition and could trigger a crisis for the Prime Minister.
The left-wing opposition has indicated it will vote for a motion of censure if the government utilizes Article 49.3 to bypass a parliamentary vote. While the National Rally (RN) has been less explicit, there are expectations that the far-right party may also sanction the majority to avoid appearing supportive of policies that demand further financial sacrifices from citizens, particularly retirees.
