France sees extensive road and rail disruptions from summer construction projects
In the Tours region, a series of road works are causing major traffic changes. From Thursday, north‑south traffic on the Tours peripheral will be shifted to opposite lanes between La Membrolle and Luynes, with entry and exit ramps at Fondettes closed and detours set up. Vinci Autoroutes is closing the Saint‑Gatien vault on the A10 for two weeks, providing a secured pedestrian and bicycle passage. A new cycle lane is being created at Place Loiseau d'Entraigues and tram line 15 is being diverted via Rue Edouard Vaillant. Night work on the SNCF bridge on Rue Edouard Vaillant and the dismantling of the Alouette bridge will also affect traffic and bus routes, with several stops temporarily unserved. Keolis reports numerous bus cancellations across multiple lines.
On the national rail network, SNCF warns that summer works on the EOLE line extension and the replacement of switches at Paris Saint‑Lazare will heavily disrupt weekend services between Cherbourg and Paris from late July until mid‑August. Trains may be rerouted, extending journeys from the usual four hours to up to eight hours northbound and seven hours southbound. Passengers are advised to travel early on Saturdays or after 16:00 on Sundays, with normal service expected to resume by mid‑August.
