France sees rise in violent cryptocurrency-related attacks
France is experiencing a rise in violent crimes specifically targeting cryptocurrency holdings. Reports indicate that there have been approximately 90 Bitcoin-related attacks over a seven-month period.
These criminal activities include kidnappings, home invasions, and extortions orchestrated by syndicates. In one documented incident in Saint-Juéry, armed and hooded individuals broke into a residence in the middle of the night to demand access to a digital wallet. In another instance, more than 70 cases of kidnapping and sequestration related to cryptocurrencies were recorded in France within an eight-month span, highlighting a growing trend of targeted digital asset theft through physical violence.
