France Sets 2026 Yield Targets for Champagne and Label‑Red Strawberries

The Comité Champagne announced that the commercialisable yield for the 2026 Champagne harvest will be limited to 8,800 kg per hectare, a reduction of 200 kg compared with 2025. The measure is intended to preserve quality, manage stocks and support price stability amid climatic challenges such as hail, frost and heat waves, while allowing a reserve capacity up to 10,000 kg/ha. Small producers have expressed concerns over the tighter quotas.

In the same year, the French Label Rouge strawberry sector reported a strong 2026 season, with 465 tonnes sold—up from 360 tonnes in 2025. The Gariguette variety accounted for 94 % of sales, and the average price remained stable at €12 per kilogram. Producers, organized by the Association des Fruits et Légumes du Lot‑et‑Garonne, cultivated the berries mainly in soilless systems over about 200 hectares, citing sunny weather and heightened vigilance to maintain quality standards.
