France sets June 30 deadline for property tax monthly payments

The French tax administration announced that owners who wish to spread their property tax (taxe foncière) payments over the year must enroll by 30 June 2026. Enrollment activates a monthly pre‑levy that starts on 15 July, with ten installments generally covering January to October. If the request is made after the deadline, the monthly scheme will only apply to the following year's tax.

Applications can be submitted online through the taxpayer’s personal space on the official tax website, or via phone, mail or a visit to the local tax centre. The service is free, carries no fees or interest, and the amount deducted each month is adjusted if the final tax assessment changes during the year. Late enrolment results in higher installments for the first three months to catch up before returning to the normal schedule.

The deadline aims to ease the autumn cash‑flow burden for households by replacing a single large payment with smaller, regular deductions.
