France: Seven-year-old boy suspected in fatal stabbing of aunt
A family dispute in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, located in the Val-de-Marne department of France, resulted in the death of a 49-year-old woman during the early hours of a Friday. According to investigators, the incident followed an argument between the victim and her 34-year-old sister.
Police were called to the scene around 4:30 a.m. after finding the woman on the street with a fatal stab wound to the neck. Despite the efforts of emergency services, she succumbed to her injuries. A seven-year-old boy, the son of the victim's sister, reportedly intervened in the conflict to protect his mother and is suspected of delivering the fatal blow with a knife.
Following the incident, the child and his mother were taken to the hospital. Under French law, children under the age of 13 are generally not subject to criminal prosecution, as they are presumed unable to fully comprehend the consequences of their actions.
