France social benefits: September payment schedules and pension updates

Social benefit recipients in France face various administrative and fiscal changes regarding their September payments. For Agirc-Arrco retirees, some may notice a decrease in net pension amounts. This is not a reduction in the gross value of pension points, but rather a result of the DGFiP recalculating income tax withholding rates based on 2024/2025 income.

Payment schedules vary across organizations: Agirc-Arrco payments typically occur around the 1st of the month, while CAF benefits are scheduled around the 4th or 5th, and basic retirement pensions are distributed around the 9th.

Additionally, a new favorable pension calculation for mothers is currently delayed due to IT system limitations at Assurance Retraite. While the policy is active, the updated calculation—which considers fewer high-earning years—will not be implemented until the second quarter of 2027, at which point retroactive adjustments will be made automatically.

Regarding Agirc-Arrco, the freeze on pension point values is expected to end on October 31, 2026, with a potential revaluation of between 1.2% and 2% anticipated in mid-October.
