France targets illegal online Cialis sales, bolsters consumer rights

French health regulators warn that purchasing Cialis (tadalafil) online without a prescription is illegal. Most sites offering the drug without medical supervision are unauthorised, posing serious health risks such as heart complications, liver damage, and exposure to counterfeit substances. Only online pharmacies accredited by the French health authority (ARS) or the Order of Pharmacists, and services that provide a tele‑consultation, are considered safe for buying the medication.

At the same time, French consumer law remains fully applicable during promotional sales periods. The Code de la consommation obliges online sellers to display the original price and the discounted price, to respect a minimum one‑month listing period before a sale, and to refrain from geo‑blocking EU consumers. The Directorate‑General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) monitors compliance and can sanction violations, ensuring shoppers retain their right of withdrawal and legal guarantees irrespective of discounts.
