France to be Guest of Honor at Mexico's Festival Internacional Cervantino
France has been selected as the guest of honor for the 54th edition of the Festival Internacional Cervantino, which will take place in the Mexican state of Guanajuato from 3 to 18 October. The festival will host 2,746 creators from 29 countries, with a strong presence of local Guanajuato artists, and will showcase a French delegation that includes groups such as Les Métaboles, Ensemble Pygmalion, Mohamed El Khatib, Leïla Ka, Chaillot Théâtre National de la Danse, and the collective NOVAYA.
Among the program highlights are a tribute to composer María Grever, a centennial homage to José Alfredo Jiménez, performances by the Ballet of Marseille, and contributions from the Austrian Camerata of Salzburg. The event will also feature immersive cinema experiences and community theatre projects that involve both professional and non‑professional performers across public spaces in Guanajuato.
