France to host 37th Mental Health Information Weeks in 2026
The 37th edition of the Mental Health Information Weeks (SISM) will take place from October 5 to 18, 2026. Following the designation of mental health as a ‘Grande Cause Nationale’ for 2025 and 2026 by the French government, various regional initiatives are being organized to raise public awareness.
In the Haut-Poitou region, the Communauté de Communes du Haut-Poitou is hosting several events, including the ‘En Voiture Psymone’ mobile unit to combat stigma and the ‘Picta’bus’ for adolescents aged 12 to 25. Additionally, local libraries will host art-themed sessions to promote mental well-being through creativity.
In Rezé, the focus will be on maternal mental health. Programs include a partnership with the ‘Maternités’ archaeological exhibition at Le Chronographe and a conference-debate on perinatal psychological suffering, such as postpartum depression and parental burnout. The schedule also features a multidisciplinary performance titled ‘Y’a un os,’ which combines theater, dance, and science to explore the social representations and fears surrounding childbirth.
