France to increase Ebola funding in DR Congo
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has announced that France will increase its financial support to combat Ebola in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. During a visit to the northeastern city of Bunia, Barrot pledged to propose additional humanitarian funding during upcoming French budget discussions.
This commitment builds upon the €13.4 million ($15.1 million) France has already allocated to fight the virus between January and July. The French strategy includes direct humanitarian aid, targeted medical research, and the PRISM initiative. Barrot also emphasized the importance of international vigilance to prevent a resurgence of the virus and noted that France will host a national humanitarian conference in Paris on October 6 to address the crisis.
