France prosecutes 34 men from Telegram channel 'Femmeblancherie' for misogynistic hate speech
French prosecutors have summoned 34 men to appear before the Paris criminal court between November 2026 and January 2027 for alleged misogynistic, racist and extremist messages posted on the public Telegram channel "Femmeblancherie". The investigation, which began with the detention of 45 users in June 2026, identified a diverse group of defendants – including a nurse, a prison guard and a metro driver – who posted demeaning comments, insults and propaganda encouraging hatred based on sex, race and even terrorism.
The charges cover public provocation to hatred, violence, discrimination and public insults, offenses punishable by up to one year in prison and fines of €45,000. Many defendants acknowledged posting the messages but defended them as "black humor" or claimed they were written while intoxicated. The Paris public prosecutor’s online‑hate unit also noted the defendants' frequent consumption of far‑right content from sites linked to Alain Soral and Vincent Reynouard.
Telegram cooperated with French authorities by supplying user data, enabling the investigation. After the original channel was removed, a new version resurfaced, presenting itself as a satirical space.
