France tourism revenue projected to reach 80 billion euros in 2026

France is projected to reach record tourism revenues of 80 billion euros in 2026, according to data from the government agency Atout France. This represents an increase from the 77 billion euros recorded in 2025.

While international visitor spending remains high—driven by a 14% increase in arrivals from Mexico and a 3% increase from the United States in July—domestic travelers are exhibiting more cautious spending habits. Data indicates a growing paradox where total revenue rises despite French residents reducing their local expenditures due to economic pressures.

Studies show that approximately 50% of French vacationers have modified their consumption habits. Specific reductions include spending on restaurants, leisure activities, and shopping. Despite these budget constraints, domestic travel remains stable, with 84% of French citizens traveling within the country this summer. Coastal destinations continue to be the most popular, attracting 43% of visitors.
