France tourism sector shows resilience driven by foreign visitors

French Minister of Tourism and Purchasing Power, Serge Papin, provided an initial assessment of the 2026 summer season during the IFTM event. He noted that the season appears to be performing well, primarily driven by strong interest from foreign visitors.

However, Papin observed a slight decline in domestic travel among French customers during the peak July-August period. The minister highlighted the importance of maintaining accessible offers to support the economy and discussed various sectoral topics, including the reform of the tourist tax and France's position as a global leader in sustainable tourism.
