France transportation disrupted by nationwide strikes and track obstacles

France is experiencing widespread transportation disruptions on Tuesday, September 29, due to nationwide public-sector strikes and localized technical issues.

In the aviation sector, the civil aviation authority (DGAC) has implemented service restrictions to manage the impact of strikes. Paris Charles de Gaulle airport faces a 5% reduction in services, while Marseille-Provence airport will see cuts of 25%. Potential disruptions are also expected in Nantes, Strasbourg, Limoges, Tarbes-Lourdes, and Pau. The strikes are driven by unions protesting a proposed pay freeze for civil servants.

Rail services are also affected, though the impact varies. SNCF Voyageurs reports that TGV and Intercités services should remain largely unaffected, while TER regional train traffic is expected to be nearly normal, despite some disruptions in regions like Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

Additionally, unplanned delays have been reported near Rouen due to an obstacle found on the tracks north of the city near Maromme. This has caused disruptions between Malaunay and Rouen, with trains heading to Le Havre and Sotteville experiencing delays of up to 30 minutes.
