France: Two separate sexual assault cases brought to court

Two separate criminal cases involving sexual assault allegations have recently been brought before French courts.

In Rennes, a man appeared before the Ille-et-Vilaine criminal court accused of raping an unconscious woman on a public bench in July 2024. A witness reported seeing movements consistent with sexual assault, while the defendant maintains that the encounter only involved kissing and denies any sexual intercourse occurred.
