France updates Pass Sport program for 2026-2027 season
The French government has announced the renewal and expansion of the ‘Pass Sport’ program for the 2026-2027 season. The initiative provides financial assistance to encourage physical activity among young people by reducing sports registration costs.
Key updates to the program include the reintegration of children aged 6 to 13, who were previously excluded. Eligibility for those aged 6 to 17 is now tied to a household family quotient (quotient familial) of €699 or less. Other eligible groups include young people with disabilities aged 6 to 30 and scholarship-holding students under the age of 28. The benefit amount has returned to a flat rate of €50.
The FSGT (Fédération Sportive et Gymnique du Travail) has expressed mixed reactions. While welcoming the return of the 6-13 age group and the inclusion of scholarship students, the organization raised concerns regarding the new targeting criteria. They noted that the shift from the previous ‘back-to-school allowance’ (ARS) eligibility to a strict €699 family quotient threshold could create a ‘threshold effect,’ potentially excluding many families with similar financial needs who fall just above the limit.
