France weather forecast: Temperatures to drop sharply amid storm warnings

France is experiencing a significant weather transition following a period of unseasonably warm temperatures. While early October began with highs reaching 26°C to 28°C in cities like Paris and Bordeaux, a cooler air mass arriving from the north is expected to cause temperatures to drop by as much as 15°C in some regions, particularly in the east and central areas.

In addition to the temperature shift, severe weather instability is forecast. Météo-France has issued various warnings, including orange alerts for rain-flooding and thunderstorms in Gard and Hérault. Dozens of other departments are under yellow alerts for storms and heavy rain. A second Mediterranean weather episode is anticipated, with potential rainfall accumulations reaching up to 300 millimeters in some areas. Corsica is also under yellow alerts for thunderstorms and flooding through Tuesday evening.
