France wins two gold medals at Badminton World Championships
France achieved a historic milestone at the Badminton World Championships in New Delhi, securing two gold medals. This performance marks a significant shift in the sport, as the traditionally dominant Chinese team finished with only one title.
Alex Lanier won the men's singles title, while the duo of Delphine Delrue and Thom Gicquel claimed victory in the mixed doubles. Delrue and Gicquel defeated China's Fen Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping in a closely contested final with a score of 22-20, 19-21, 21-15.
Franck Laurent, president of the French Badminton Federation, described the achievement as an “absolutely incredible” and “historic moment.” The success is attributed to years of structural improvements in talent detection and high-level athlete training within France.
