The French news channel Franceinfo issued an apology after mistakenly broadcasting images of Senator Hervé Marseille while reporting on the death of Senator François Patriat.

Patriat, a 83-year-old former minister and early supporter of Emmanuel Macron, passed away on Wednesday following a serious bicycle accident on July 17. During the 2 p.m. news broadcast, the network used footage of Marseille to illustrate the report. The error was corrected in subsequent news editions, with journalist Julie Guillot offering a formal apology to viewers during the 7:15 p.m. broadcast.
