France's 2027 public holiday calendar released

The French government has published the official list of public holidays for 2027. There are 11 statutory holidays, including Easter Monday on 29 March, Labour Day on 1 May (Saturday), Victory in Europe Day on 8 May (Saturday), Ascension Thursday on 6 May, Pentecost Monday on 17 May, National Day on 14 July (Wednesday), Assumption on 15 August (Sunday), All Saints' Day on 1 November, Armistice Day on 11 November, and Christmas on 25 December. Because 1 May and 8 May fall on a Saturday, the best opportunity for a long weekend is the Ascension holiday, allowing a four‑day break from Thursday 6 May to Sunday 9 May.

The school calendar for the 2027‑2028 academic year was also released. Classes resume on Thursday 2 September 2027, an unusual start day. Autumn holidays run from Saturday 23 October to Monday 8 November 2027, with a possible long weekend on Thursday 11 November. Winter breaks are staggered by zone in February‑March 2028, and spring holidays in April‑May 2028, with both 1 May and 8 May 2028 falling on Mondays, creating three‑day weekends. The summer holidays begin on Tuesday 4 July 2028.
