France's Alpine Hiking Trails Spotlight Chaudefour Valley and Mollard de Vions
The Chaudefour Valley in the French Alps, a natural reserve since 1991, offers multiple marked circuits starting from the Maison de la Réserve. Walkers can view the cascades of the Pérouse, Biche, Moine and Aigle, as well as the historic source Sainte‑Anne, which was once marketed for health benefits. Guides and detailed maps are available at the reserve entrance.
In the nearby Forêt Domaniale de Chautagne, a challenging 23.9 km hike leads to the summit of Mollard de Vions. The route provides extensive panoramas of the Rhône, Grand Colombier, Lac du Bourget and the Croix du Nivolet, with a total elevation gain of about 196 m. Trail markings, parking information and difficulty level (difficult) are outlined for hikers planning the trek.
