France's Ardèche and Gréoux les Bains Long-Distance Bike Routes Highlighted
The Grande Traversée de l’Ardèche VTT spans roughly 315 km from Annonay to Bourg‑Saint‑Andéol, crossing mountains, plateaus, forests and gorges. The route, marked on the GR4 and GR7 trails, involves 5,700–7,500 m of climbing and can be completed in about seven days. Cyclists may start in Annonay, Saint‑Félicien or Tournon‑sur‑Rhône and use either conventional or electric‑assist bicycles.
A separate five‑day, 1,080‑km tour circles the Gréoux les Bains area in Haute‑Provence. Beginning in the Beaujolais Vert region, the itinerary passes through Villefranche‑sur‑Saône for bike maintenance before reaching the thermal town of Gréoux les Bains, known for its Roman‑style baths. The journey also showcases Moustiers‑Sainte‑Marie, the Lac de Sainte‑Croix, and the Gorges du Verdon, offering varied terrain for cycling enthusiasts.
