France’s civil groups launch anti‑far‑right campaign ahead of 2027 election

Emmaüs president Bruno Morel warned that if the far‑right Rassemblement National (RN) assumes power, “our greatest shame will be not having warned”. The organisation has published a series of imagined journal issues to illustrate a France under an extremist government and to mobilise supporters ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

A coalition of social movements and civil‑society actors is also preparing a broad anti‑racist, anti‑fascist campaign for 2027. They cite recent legislation, such as the “presumption of innocence” law that they say gives police a “permit to kill”, as evidence of a growing right‑wing influence. The coalition calls for unity among progressive forces, mentioning France Insoumise and its candidate Jean‑Luc Mélenchon as key allies in preventing an RN victory.
