France's final 2025 income tax filing deadline set for June 4

The French tax administration announced that the online filing period for 2025 income taxes ends at 23:59 CET on Thursday 4 June 2026 for households in departments numbered 55 to 976. After this cut‑off, the electronic portal will close for all taxpayers, and those who miss the deadline may face a 10 % surcharge on the tax owed, increasing to 20 % for persistent non‑filers.

In parallel, data released by the Direction Générale des Finances Publiques shows that 193,600 households were subject to the Impôt sur la Fortune Immobilière (IFI) in 2025, generating €2.3 billion in revenue – about 0.5 % of total state tax receipts. The IFI affects mainly older households, with over two‑thirds of filers aged 65 + and 38 % aged 75 +. Île‑de‑France accounts for 43 % of IFI payers, while the Bourgogne‑Franche‑Comté region records the highest local incidence in the Doubs department (18 households per 10 000 filers). The average IFI payable in 2025 was €12 000, with the highest average of €9 185 in Dijon.
