France to raise Livret A savings rate in August, says Economy Minister

French Economy Minister Roland Lescure announced that the Livret A rate, fixed at 1.5 % since February, will be increased with the new rate to take effect on 1 August. The precise figure will be disclosed after calculations are finalised in mid‑July, based on inflation (about 2.4 % in May) and the €STR short‑term rate.

The change concerns roughly 58 million French savers holding a total of €444.6 billion in Livret A accounts. The move is presented as a “good news for French savings” aimed at protecting household purchasing power amid rising energy prices linked to the Middle‑East conflict.
