France's New High‑Yield Savings Promotions Challenge Livret A

Fortuneo launched a limited‑time promotion for its Livret + offering a 5 % gross rate for three months on deposits up to €100,000. The offer, available for accounts opened between 1 April and 29 May 2026, is subject to the 31.4 % flat tax, leaving an effective net return of about 3.4 % for the quarter. After the promotional period the rate falls to 1.60 % gross (≈1.10 % net), which is lower than the tax‑free Livret A’s 1.5 % net rate over a full year.

Trade Republic promotes a different product: a 2 % gross monthly return on cash balances with no ceiling and no account fees. Users can also invest from €1 in ETFs, stocks or crypto, and obtain a free virtual card (a physical card for €5). While the cash‑balance yield is higher than the Livret A, it is not regulated and the broader investment options carry market risk. Both providers position their offers as more attractive alternatives to the traditional Livret A for French savers in 2026.
