Frances Nunziata seeks re-election in York South-Weston municipal race

The municipal election race for Toronto’s Ward 5, York South-Weston, features a contest between long-term incumbent Frances Nunziata and several challengers, including Chiara Padovani. Nunziata, Toronto’s longest-serving city councillor, is seeking a ninth term. The previous election in 2022 was highly competitive, with Padovani finishing only 94 votes behind the incumbent.

Key issues driving the campaign include housing affordability, rent control, and flood protection for homes near the Humber River. Candidates are also focusing on community safety and increasing opportunities for local youth through improved recreation and indoor sports programming.
