France's Retirement Pension Payments Face Delays Due to Administrative Errors

In France, many retirees experience interruptions in pension payments when their retirement files are submitted too close to the departure date or contain inaccurate information. Filing less than four months before retirement, missing documents such as bank statements or identity proof, and errors in social security numbers can halt the automatic processing of pension claims.

The coordination between the primary pension authority (CNAV) and the supplementary scheme (Agirc‑Arrco) can also create a domino effect, where a technical blockage in one regime delays the other. Applicants are advised to start the request at least six months in advance, verify all personal and career data, and keep bank details up to date. If a claim is stalled, a provisional liquidation can be requested to ensure interim financial support.

These measures aim to reduce the risk of prolonged payment gaps for retirees transitioning to inactive life.
