Frances Vereijken conducts doctoral research on disability care
Frances Vereijken is undertaking doctoral research focused on the cooperation between parents of adult children with intellectual disabilities and professional care providers. Her motivation stems from her personal upbringing alongside her brother, Ebel, who lives with autism and other disabilities.
Despite the complexities of managing various health limitations and frequent hospital visits during their youth, Vereijken describes their family bond as close and normal. She is currently collaborating with the ‘Academische Werkplaats Leven met een verstandelijke beperking’ and Tilburg University to explore these care dynamics.
