Francesca Albanese documentary announced for Italian release

Wanted Cinema has announced the acquisition of the documentary ‘Anatomy of a Genocide’ for release in Italian cinemas in 2027. Directed and produced by Norwegian filmmaker Torstein Grude, the film follows Francesca Albanese, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories.

Filmed over three years, the documentary provides access to Albanese’s work documenting human rights violations following the events of October 7, 2023. It also explores her personal experiences, including international exposure, death threats, and sanctions imposed by the United States government. The film’s title is derived from Albanese’s 2024 United Nations report.

In addition to this announcement, the distributor noted the ongoing success of Annemarie Jacir’s film ‘Palestina 36’, which has surpassed 56,000 viewers in Italian theaters.
