Francesca Archibugi documentary on Carla Lonzi to release in theaters

The documentary “Carla Lonzi – Dentro e fuori dal mondo,” directed by Francesca Archibugi, is scheduled for theatrical release on October 26, 27, and 28. The film explores the life of Carla Lonzi, a radical figure in Italian feminism, art critic, writer, and founder of Rivolta Femminile.

Using previously unreleased archival materials, photographs, and Lonzi’s own voice, Archibugi provides an intimate portrait that moves beyond simple biography. The film examines both Lonzi’s public, uncompromising persona and her private complexities, including her personal relationships and vulnerabilities.

Archibugi maintains a personal connection to the subject, having known Lonzi since her adolescence; Lonzi was the mother of Archibugi’s late husband, musician Battista Lena, who also composed the film's score. The documentary features testimonies from family and friends, including Nanni Moretti and philosopher Maria Luisa Boccia, aiming to present Lonzi as a complex human being rather than a sanctified historical figure.
