Francesco Emilio Borrelli leads beach occupation protest in Vico Equense, Italy
Deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli of Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra visited Marina di Vico in the municipality of Vico Equense, Campania, together with Europa Verde representative Rosario Lotito. The on‑site inspection, also attended by mayor Giuseppe Aiello, was part of a campaign against illegal beach establishments and the private appropriation of public seafront.
Borrelli said he had received “hundreds of reports from citizens” in the last 36 hours about unlawful stalls and encroachments on the sand. He urged the port authority – the Capitaneria di Porto – to intensify monitoring and act more swiftly, adding that the current control system “is not working as it should.” The deputy pledged to keep collecting complaints and forwarding them to the competent authorities, insisting that “the sea belongs to everyone, not to those who appropriate it illegally.”
