Francesco Passaro qualifies for US Open 2026 main draw

Italian tennis player Francesco Passaro has qualified for the US Open 2026 main draw after a successful qualifying campaign.

Passaro secured his spot by defeating Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki in the final qualifying round with a 6-4, 6-2 victory. This follows a second-round win against Germany’s Tom Gentzsch, where Passaro won 7-6(4), 6-4. The victory marks Passaro’s return to a Grand Slam main draw for the first time in 368 days.

The 2026 season has been challenging for the Perugian player, who dealt with a right wrist injury and the passing of his father in May. His qualification brings the Italian contingent in the main draw to nine players.
