Francesco 'Pecco' Bagnaia retires from Assen MotoGP and becomes first‑time father

Italian rider Francesco "Pecco" Bagnaia was forced to retire from the MotoGP race at Assen after a brake‑related technical problem while running in fourth place with ten laps to go. He told reporters, “Surely I wasn’t expecting to finish the weekend with a retirement,” and added that the issue made it “too difficult to think about continuing.” His teammate Marc Márquez finished seventh after receiving a penalty.

During the same weekend the Ducati rider announced that he and his wife Domizia Castagnini have welcomed their first child, a baby boy whose name remains private. In the Ducati paddock a pair of tiny blue shoes and a welcome banner were displayed, confirming the new fatherhood.
