Francesco Zugna wins Italian Open Europa class sailing championship

Francesco Zugna has won the Italian Open Championship in the Europa sailing class, held in Colico on Lake Como from August 21 to 23. The competition featured 50 athletes representing Italy, Belgium, France, and Germany.

Despite bad weather preventing any races on the first Friday, the schedule was recovered over the weekend with a total of seven races completed. Zugna, representing Società Triestina Sport del Mare, secured the overall title. Sarah Barbarossa of Lega Navale di Monfalcone finished second overall and claimed first place in the women's category. Francesco Scarselli of Circolo Nautico Livorno ASD took third place overall and won the Super Master category.

The event also highlighted various age groups, with Raffaele Sancin winning the Juniores (under 19) category and veteran sailors Walter Mazzella and Walter Zugna competing in the Legend category.
