Francigena Ultramarathon features 130 km walks for sport and charity

Participants recently completed the Francigena Ultramarathon, a long-distance walking challenge along the Via Francigena between Tuscany and Lazio.

Cristian Coletti, a 51-year-old personal trainer, completed the 130-kilometer route from Siena to Acquapendente in just under 29 hours. The course involved approximately 3,400 meters of elevation gain. Coletti noted that the experience, which included encounters with visually and hearing-impaired individuals, reinforced the value of participation and perseverance.

Daniele Giordani also undertook the 130-kilometer trek as part of the ‘Camminiamo per voi’ project. His walk, scheduled for October 2026, serves as a fundraising initiative for Cascina Cristina, an association in Cantù that supports people with disabilities. The funds raised aim to provide new experiences and organized trips for the association's guests.
