Francis Kéré completes unique daycare center in Munich

Architect Francis Kéré has completed a unique daycare center for the Technical University of Munich (TU) located in the city's museum district. The five-story wooden structure, primarily built from spruce, features a distinctive facade composed of 2,085 Corten steel slats that appear orange in sunlight.

Designed to accommodate a narrow urban plot, the building utilizes a stacked layout for its group rooms and features a rooftop playground. The facility includes child-centric architectural elements such as slanted walls and slides connecting different floors. The daycare is scheduled to officially open in the autumn to serve children of TU employees.
