Franciscan Sisters mark 18 years of educational mission in Angola
The Franciscan Sisters are marking 18 years of missionary work in Angola. Since arriving in 2008 at the invitation of the Friars Minor of Palanca, the congregation has focused primarily on education.
Under the direction of Sister Ana Azevedo Maia, the mission's educational facilities in Luanda have expanded from four classrooms to 18. Additionally, the congregation's nursery has grown to provide care for 750 children. Despite initial challenges involving unreliable electricity and water supplies, the mission has seen long-term community impact, with the children of original students now attending the same institution.
