Francisco Arce criticizes refereeing after Guaraní draw

Guaraní coach Francisco Arce expressed satisfaction with his team's performance following a 1-1 draw against Cerro Porteño in the 10th round of the 2026 Torneo Clausura, but criticized recent officiating.

Arce specifically questioned a penalty awarded to Cerro Porteño due to a handball by Imanol Segovia. He suggested that VAR officials were not looking closely enough at a preceding tug, stating, “the VAR people put on ‘lente hũ’” (blurry lenses).

The manager noted that he has observed “very basic, very evident errors” in various matches that might have been handled differently in other circumstances. While emphasizing that Guaraní must focus on what they can control, Arce stated the team must remain vigilant regarding officiating decisions.

Despite the controversy, Arce praised the quality of play his squad has displayed since his arrival, noting that the team's primary needs are improved positioning and tactical order.
