Francisco Assis warns of political violence in Mozambique

Portuguese MEP Francisco Assis has raised alarms regarding the degradation of the political and civil environment in Mozambique. Following a meeting with Venâncio Mondlane, leader of the National Alliance for a Free and Autonomous Mozambique (ANAMOLA), at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Assis highlighted the intense violence directed at political opponents.

Assis reported that more than fifty opponents have been assassinated and numerous physical assaults have occurred, calling for European concern and action. The discussions also addressed the ongoing situation in the Cabo Delgado province.
