Legal probes target Manuel Adorni's Bitcoin and Francisco Barbosa's surveillance claims

In Argentina, former Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni is under investigation for alleged illicit enrichment. Federal Prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita has requested a specialized report from the Federal Police's Cybercrime Department to address 29 specific questions regarding eight Bitcoin wallets Adorni claims to have used for transactions between 2014 and 2018. The investigation aims to determine if the current holder of the private keys is the same person who controlled the wallets during that period, and whether the US$591,544 in question can be verified through these digital assets.

In Colombia, former Attorney General Francisco Barbosa Delgado has filed a formal criminal complaint alleging illegal surveillance, wiretapping, and unauthorized database searches conducted during the administration of President Gustavo Petro. Barbosa claims that state intelligence agencies, including the National Intelligence Directorate (DNI), the UIAF, and the DIAN, were used to profile him and his associates, including former Vice Attorney General Martha Mancera. The complaint requests the preservation of 147 terabytes of information and various electronic devices to ensure evidence from recent intelligence audits is maintained under a chain of custody.
