Francisco Beltrão Cuts Traffic Fatalities by 64% in 2026

The municipality of Francisco Beltrão in Brazil reported a 64.28% drop in traffic‑related deaths for the period up to 6 August 2026, with 10 fatalities compared with 28 in the same period of 2025 – a saving of 18 lives. The decline spans urban, rural and highway incidents and is attributed to the integrated actions of the local traffic department (Debetran) and other safety agencies.

Coordinator Carla Rotta highlighted the combined effect of education, enforcement and engineering measures, while Debetran director Ian Drehmer noted that the city has participated in the national "Vida no Trânsito" program since 2018, which enables detailed monitoring and targeted interventions. The collaborative approach is credited with the significant reduction in deaths.
