Francisco J. Márquez wins Gerardo Diego Literary Prize

Poet Francisco J. Márquez has been awarded the 2025 Gerardo Diego Literary Prize by the Government of Cantabria for his work, ‘Un mismo idioma’.

Márquez, an Andalusian author and educator, described the inspiration for the winning collection as a series of coincidences involving untranslatable words from illustrated books read with his children. He noted that the project seeks to create a shared code of beauty and understanding to counter isolation through poetry.
