Francisco Juan Ros García, heir to Spanish steel empire, dies

Francisco Juan Ros García, the heir to a prominent Spanish steel industrial empire, has passed away in Valencia following a long illness. Ros García took over the leadership of the industrial holding company alongside his brother, Germán, following the death of their father, Francisco Ros Casares, in 2014.

The industrial group, which specialized in the transformation, distribution, and logistics of steel products, faced significant financial difficulties. In 2014, the parent company and most of its subsidiaries filed for bankruptcy due to liquidity issues and debt, leading to a decade-long liquidation process for the main companies within the conglomerate.

Ros García held several prominent institutional roles, including serving as president of the Asociación para el Progreso de la Dirección (APD) and as a board member for Bankia. He was previously involved in legal proceedings related to the Bankia case, but was among the 34 defendants acquitted by the Audiencia Nacional in 2020, a ruling later upheld by the Supreme Court in 2022.
