Francisco Martín Luján appointed dean of Medicine at Universidad Rovira i Virgili

Francisco Martín Luján has been elected as the new dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Universidad Rovira i Virgili (URV) following internal elections. He succeeds Fátima Sabench, who recently became vice‑rector for Infrastructure and Health‑Institution Relations. Martín will serve a six‑year term and will be supported by vicedecana Marta Romeu and secretary Maria Cabré.

The incoming leadership outlined five major challenges: modernising the Bellissens campus as a hub for teaching, research, innovation and clinical simulation; fostering a more participatory and inclusive faculty culture; promoting excellence in education, research and digital transformation, including responsible AI use; strengthening collaborations with hospitals, primary care, and public health institutions; and expanding the faculty’s international presence through mobility programmes, WFME accreditation and global training opportunities.
